Fruit of the Spirit: PATIENCE

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction,
faithful in prayer.
Romans 12:12

How often does life take us on an unexpected detour where things just don't work out exactly the way we imagined or wanted. Even with the best of intention, the journey is sometimes paved with mountains and valleys. Paul wanted to bring the gospel to Rome (Acts 19:21) but instead he's imprisoned in Caesarea for two years (Acts 24:27). Even during the two years of imprisonment and confinement, God was at work and Paul did ultimately travel back to Rome. While he still suffered many difficulties, he was able to preach the Gospel in Rome with "all boldness and without hindrance" (Acts 28:31).

Paul demonstrated true patience in waiting for and trusting in God's perfect timing. When we trust in Jesus, we allow the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts and to give us patience to wait on God's plan for us.
