Do not be anxious about anything,
but in every situation, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Romans 15:13
It's hard to find peace in uncertain circumstances, isn't it? I've definitely had my share of stress and anxiety over the last few months as a result of the pandemic and all the associated changes! When we read through Acts 12: 1-17, we know that Peter wasn't in a peaceful situation and yet, we are told that he slept!! While in prison, the night before his trial, bound with two chains, between two soldiers, he fell asleep. And it wasn't fitful sleep either because the angel sent by God to rescue him had to poke him to wake him up!
Peter knew Jesus and he trust that God is in control. When we put our trust in Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts, we really do find peace because we recognize that our worries our minuscule in comparison to our infinite, omnipresent, omniscient God! This week, spend time with Jesus and ask for trust, faith and peace in Him. Talk with your kids about what makes them worried or anxious and pray through their worries. Help them remember that God is with them and ready to give them peace!
